  1. You will receive an acknowledgement confirming your claim number
  2. We will keep in contact and update you on the progress of your claim
  • To help us process your claim as quickly as possible, please provide all supporting information requested as soon as you can. Delays in receiving information will delay your claim settlement.
  • If your damage is likely to exceed $2,000 please call us on 1800 804 016, as we may need to appoint a loss adjuster.

Water damage

Important

If water damage exceeds $2,000 in repair costs, please contact us as soon as possible. We may need to appoint an assessor.

Our Landlord Preferred, Landlord Preferred Self Managed and Scheer Short Stay policies insure you against water damage caused by bursting, leaking or overflowing water.

This may include damage caused by:

  • Rainwater pipes
  • Roof guttering and drains
  • Water tanks
  • Aquariums
  • Hot water systems
  • Roads
  • Pathways
  • Gutters

Or other parts of the property that are designed to contain or carry water or liquid such as:

  • Sinks
  • Basins
  • Baths
  • Cisterns
  • Washing Machines

Please note: this excludes loss or damage as a result of the gradual escape of liquid over a period of time.

For the purpose of this event, effluent or soil mixed with leaking water will be regarded as water damage.

Documents required

  • Completed claim form
    Ensure the back of the form is signed. For fast settlement, please provide your preferred payment details
  • Last routine inspections
  • Photos
    Labelled clear colour photos of the damage caused
  • Itemised quotes/invoices for the restoration or repair of the property damage
  • Tradesman’s report with details of what caused the leak and that it has been repaired
  • For water damage to carpets, advise approximate age
