Damage from unexpected events
Protects your property against loss or damage caused by:
- Fire (including bushfire) or explosion
- Storm or rainwater Damage from storm or rainwater, including a cyclone or severe atmospheric disturbance. A storm can be accompanied by strong winds, rain, lightning, hail, snow or dust.
- Flood The covering of normally dry land by water that has escaped or been released from the normal confines of any lake, river, creek or another natural watercourse (whether or not they have been altered or modified), or any reservoir, canal or dam.
- Escape of Liquid Sudden and unexpected loss or damage by liquid escaping from: - Drain, sewage system, or fixed pipe (not forming part of a shower floor or base or shower cubicle wall, and not overflow drains or pipes) - Water main, fire hydrant, or the main water supply to the insured address - Fixed tanks - Swimming pools or spas - A bath, sink, toilet, basin, or a tap spindle (not forming part of shower floor or base or shower cubicle wall - Fixed heating or cooling systems - A refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, or washing machine - A waterbed or an aquarium
- Lightning Lightning including power surge caused by lightning.
- Earthquake or tsunami Damage caused by an earthquake or tsunami, but excluding damage caused by the actions or movements of the sea.
- Impact Loss or damage caused by impact (or power surge caused by impact) at the insured address from any of the following: - A falling tree or part of a falling tree including the roots. However, not when any of these are being carried in or by water or water is causing them to move (for example, a fallen tree being carried in a river) - Power poles - TV antennas or satellite dishes, communication aerials, or masts - Drones - Watercraft, aircraft, motor vehicles, or trailers (however, not if any of these are stationary) - An object falling from a motor vehicle or aircraft - Space debris or meteorites
- Accidental glass breakage Accidental glass breakage for the following glass or ceramic items: - Fixed glass in windows, doors, skylights, mirrors fixed to the building, and other fixed glass (including glass tint if fitted) - Fixed light fittings in the building - Fixed cooking or heating appliances - Cooktops or cooking surfaces - Fixed sinks, basins, baths, or shower-bath combinations, cisterns, and toilets - Shower bases.
- Riot, civil commotion or public disturbance
- Oil leakage from any heater
- Electric motor burnout The burning out or fusing of electric motors in household equipment or appliances which are part of the building and where the motor is less than 7 years old. Cover includes the cost to repair or replace the following: - The electric motor or compressor containing the motor - An entire sealed unit, filter, dryer and re-gassing if the electric motor is inside a sealed refrigeration or air conditioning unit - A swimming pool water pump, combined with its electric motor, if the replacement pump motor can’t be bought on its own.
We do not insure you for bushfire, storm, flood or tsunami in the first 72 hours of your policy. Very limited exceptions apply. Read the PDS for more detail.
Loss or damage caused by tenants, the tenant’s family, or the tenant’s invited guests
Protects your property against:
- Accidental loss or damage Sudden or unexpected loss or damage that is neither deliberate nor motivated by spite, malice or vindictiveness which is caused by you, your family or your non-paying guests – e.g. a saucepan is dropped and damages the kitchen floor tiles.
- Tenant damage Loss or damage caused by the tenant, the tenant’s family, or the tenant’s invited guests, including theft by the tenant, the tenant’s family, or the tenant’s invited guests.
Damage caused by unknown persons
Protects your property against:
- Break-in, vandalism, or theft Loss or damage to the building intentionally caused by break-in, vandalism, or theft by unknown persons (e.g. a burglar).
Loss of rental income
Up to 52 weeks
If your building is damaged by an insured event and becomes untenantable for more than 7 days, we’ll cover your loss of rent for up to 52 weeks (and no more than $50,000 per year for holiday rental properties).
Also covers
We cover your legal liability for an occurrence that causes death or bodily injury to other people, or damage to other people’s property, up to the limit of $20 million.

Up to 52 weeks loss of rent (and no more than $50,000 per year for holiday rental properties)
Legal Liability
Our policy covers your legal liability as the landlord for an occurrence which causes death or bodily injury to other people, or damage to other people’s property, up to the limit of $20,000,000.
